About The Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible manga

The Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible (久保さんは僕を許さない , Kubo-san wa Mobu wo Yurusanai) TV anime is based on the eponymous ongoing manga series by Nene Yukimori. The manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump Magazine and published under the Young Jump Comics label since its 2019 debut.

The chapters have been collected into ten tankōbon volumes as of September 2022. Viz Media has licensed the series for English publication. The English manga is up to Volume 4, with Volume 5 coming out on January 3, 2023.

The plot follows Junta Shiraishi, a quiet first-year high school student. Due to his shyness, neither his classmates nor his teachers notice poor Junta.

However, with the appearance of his classmate Nagisa Kubo, things are about to change, and dramatically at that! Namely, Nagisa is Junta’s complete opposite: she’s outgoing and extroverted and would like nothing more than to drag him into her world.

An unlikely pair, say you? The thing is: Kubo-san wa Mobu wo Yurusanai is a rom-com title!

Admittedly, it won’t be the first time this kind of conundrum has emerged in a rom-com title. Aharen-san wa Hakarenai has a similar premise, to name only one title that’s still fresh in everyone’s memory. Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible has the protagonist roles reversed but the idea is still there.

There’s just a bit more until January 2023, so perhaps we’ll get at least a vague idea of the levels of ecchiness the Kubo-san TV anime will display. The manga may or may not be misleading at this point.
