On October 13, 2022, the official Twitter account for NetflixAnime revealed three more cast members for the upcoming anime film The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh (Nanatsu no Taizai: Ensa no Edinburgh), which features a new original story by Nakaba Suzuki centering around Meliodas’ son Tristan Liones.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh is an all-new two-part anime film project. The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part I will premiere on Netflix on December 20, 2022, at 12:01 a.m. PT/3:01 a.m. ET.

Who are the newly announced cast members?

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh new cast members include:

  • Kouki Uchiyama – Fairy
  • Kazuyuki Okitsu – Priest
  • Yohei Azakami – Deathpierce

What are the identities of the new characters?

Fairy played by Kouki Uchiyama, is obviously the son of King and Diane. “Fairy” may just be a temporary name for him and his real name may be revealed in the future. It’s funny to note that King and Diane’s son is far from being the “cute” son they’ve mentioned in the series and instead looks like a delinquent fairy!

The priest played by Kazuyuki Okitsu appears to be a mysterious new demon that Tristan and his allies will probably end up fighting.

Deathpierce played by Yohei Azakami is a Holy Knight and a member of the Pleiades of the Azure Sky, who serve under the Assistant Great Holy Knight, Denzel Liones. Deathpierce was originally from Edinburgh, which is the setting for the new movie.

During his youth in Edinburgh Deathpierce befriended a small fairy, who he named Invisible due to her being invisible to everyone but himself. It’s possible the mysterious “demon” Priest that is going to be played by Kazuyuki Okitsu is in fact the non-invisible form of Invisible.

Denzel Liones recruited Deathpierce after the fall of Edinburgh and he joined the Pleiades of the Azure Sky, Order of Holy Knights of Liones. In the aftermath of the New Holy War, Deathpierce informs the other Pleiades that he’s decided to quit being a Holy Knight since he plans to return to Edinburgh and devote his life to restoring it.

Deathpierce always regretted the way he abandoned his hometown of Edinburgh in its hour of need. Deathpierce harbors a deep resentment towards demons and goddesses, which means a half-demon half-goddess like Tristan would be someone he’d hate on principle. His ambition is to make Edinburgh a place for humans and only humans.

Deathpierce is obviously going to be the main villain that Tristan Liones and his allies will end up having to defeat. But what is Deathpierce’s master plan?

What is the plot of The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh?

The story centers on a young man named Tristan, who is the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth. Tristan inherits the power of the Goddess Clan and is able to heal people’s wounds and injuries. However, due to his inability to control his Demon Clan powers, he ends up hurting others, but not on purpose. In order to protect his family, Tristan sets out on a quest to Edinburgh Castle, and encounters individuals whom he befriends along the way, including King and Diane’s son “Fairy”. Diane and King’s giant daughter may also be joining Tristan’s group of allies.

Tristan Liones eventually becomes a Holy Knight and one of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse. It’s hard to say if the events, which occur in The Four Knights of the Apocalypse spin-off manga, happen before or after the events in Grudge of Edinburgh.

If the film is set after the events in The Four Knights of the Apocalypse it is likely the other members, including Ban and Elaine’s son Lancelot, the female knight Gawain, and Ironside’s son Percival will join Tristan in his quest to Edinburgh, and help him to defeat Deathpierce and stop whatever it is he’s scheming.

It has been prophesized that the Four Knights of the Apocalypse, a group of four Holy Knights, will appear and bring destruction to the world and lead King Arthur of Camelot to his doom. Will this prophecy come into play in the movie Grudge of Edinburgh? We’ll have to wait until December 20, 2022, to find out!
